Vidal Sassoon designed the ‘Bob’ haircut and five-point cut set 50 years ago, this month.

To celebrate the iconic haircut”s milestone anniversary, Vidal Sassoon Pro Series collaborated with Sassoon Salon New York Uptown to offer haircuts for $7 on June 4th, 2013 – that’s the price they were in 1963.

“As someone who trained at Vidal Sassoon, the bob is a very important haircut to me,” says Skervin, who trained at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. “It was the second haircut that I ever learned to do. The line had to be so sharp – it took quite a few months to master,” said Ben Skervin, hairstylist and Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Ambassador.

Skervin gave actress Jamie King a bob-inspired look – the faux bob – at the salon in New York City. (shown in photo).

King was at the salon to help kick off the company’s “Show Your Genius” Facebook contest. Women are being asked to flaunt their haircuts for a chance to win $1,000, among other prizes. Fans of Vidal Sassoon Pro’s Facebook page can upload photos to enter.
